Like the Roku TV, the 40FS3800 offers identical features to other Roku TVs such as 40H4 Hisense, the NS-55DR420NA16 Insignia and the Sharp LC-43LB371U. The interface is based on the Roku menu system and can access media streaming services and other applications through the Roku Store Channel. All major services are available, such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube, Sling and Twitch TV. In addition, channel specific content for different types of movies, sports, regions, languages and themes can be found for free or for a premium through Roku Channel Store.
The 40FS3800 supports control via the Roku free application for iOS and Android. It allows you to use your smartphone or tablet as a remote control to enter text and even play movies, music or pictures from your mobile device to HDTV.
Roku remote TV controls are as close as HDTV remote controls. All Roku TVs, with only details like the quick access buttons and volume control of the investment differentiator. The 40FS3800 remote control has the same large purple steering knob as for controlling high definition television. Individual hot buttons for Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Vudu and Rdio are located on the bottom half of the remote. The volume up / down buttons and sit Silence on the right edge, hard to see, but easy to find with your fingers.

We tested high definition television with a Klein K-10A colorimeter, a DVDL AVLAB 4K test pattern generator and SpectraCal's CalMAN 5 software. After the basic calibration of the darkroom (whose options are very limited in the TV Roku interface), we measured a black level of 0.07 cd / m2 and a maximum brightness of 273.84 cd / m2 for a contrast ratio of 3.912: 1, by comparison, the Insignia NS-55DR420NA16 shows a black level of 0.06 cd / m2 for a dark contrast ratio of 4453: 1. If you want to significantly better performance than that, you should expect to spend at least Twice as much for a local backlit high definition television.
